Type Design

University Project: Octavia & Olivia

My first font, called Octavia, is a serif font with a notably detail running throughout the typeface. It gives the font a special and rather expensive look.

Why did I name my font »Octavia«? My first association with one of my modules, especially that of the letter "O" was an octopus or the tentacle of an octopus. After trying to modify this word, I finally came up with the female name »Octavia«. I did not want my typeface's name to be a made-up word but give it personality. In addition, the name contains the most important modules and, in my opinion, results in an overall aesthetic word picture.

My 2nd font family – consisting of 3 typefaces: Regular, Semibold and Bold – is a continuation of my font “Octavia” and, so to speak, its big sister. Olivia is a very lovely and playful font. However, each style has its own character, which means that this typeface can be used for a wide variety of purposes.
